Congratulations Pistol!!!
February 8th in Angleton Texas, our little
Pistol,
[ a female purebred German Shepherd]
rescued from the Mesquite Shelter,
by Chick Gardner of GAP and then trained as a
Narcotics Detection Dog by Nancy Bidwell of Scentry Place, showed
the big boys how it is done!!
Pistol has only been with her Handler:
Donna Petrusaitis, a jailer with Refugio
County
Sheriff's Office six months, but it was
obvious yesterday that Donna has worked her dog faithfully and that
they have become a team to
be proud of and reckoned with!!
They won FIRST PLACE in the trial at the end
of
a week long K-9 School....
amidst such seasoned agencies as: Houston
P.D., Brazoria County, Baytown P.D.
....just to mention a few!!
Pistol and Donna found the most hides of
Cocaine,
Heroin, Meth and Marijuana in the three
minutes
allotted time with no false alerts and having
her
first alert be the fastest!!
In my twenty seven years of dog training,
never
have I been more proud of a dog, my Company
for taking dogs facing certain death and training them to be part of
the war on drugs and terrorism,
and a Handler who has overcome a natural
shyness in order to be an exceptional Handler :)
You go girls!!!
Proof that you do not have to have an
imported
six thousand dollar dog in order to have a
'' good one ''
They do not come any better than this....
